DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS ECONOMICS
The Department of BUSINESS ECONOMICS was established in the year 2012. The aim of the department is to prepare the students to step into the business sector. The department organizes guest lectures, seminars, workshops and industrial visits to widen the scope of learning for the students.
VISION
To help students learn and understand the economic concepts, principles and apply them to a different economic situations.
MISSION
- To provide a thorough knowledge and understanding of a range of key topics and analytical techniques in microeconomic and macroeconomic theory.
- To employ economic models to examine current economic issues and evaluate policy options for addressing these issues.
- To apply entrepreneurial principles to create real life business opportunities.

2019-2020
- The Department of Business Economics organized a guest lecture on "Is India Marching towards Green Economy" on 12th July, 2019 by Dr A.MARIYAPPAN. He spoke on 'A Green Economy' that promotes a triple bottom line: sustaining and advancing economic, environmental and social well-being.
- Business Economics department have MOU with Scientific Research Association for economics and finance-Student Chapter.
- Organised a Entrepreneur Development Workshop on 13.12.2019. The chief guest of the event was Josephine Selvaraj, R. Sukumar SIDBI and Mahalakshmi Saravanan.
- Student Chapter-Mr.Venkatesan Seshadri given a lecture on the topic "Share Market".
- Shri Krishnaswamy College for women Anna Nagar has sent twelve students and some Faculty Members from the Department of BBA and B.A( Economics) were attended the Workshop on “Sathyagraha lifestyle for the Youth of Today” Organized by Gandhi Peace Foundation, Alwarpet in memory of Gandhiya Maamani Sri .T.D .Tirumalai, Former Secretary of GPF on 10 th Aug 2019 between 10.30 am and 1.30 Pm at their Premises.
2018-2019
- The Orientation Programme on Economics was organized on 6th July 2018 . The Guest of the day was Dr.S.Narayanan, Assistant Professor in DG Vaishnav College.
- On 18th August 2018, the final year students visits Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Perambur.
- Business Economics department have MOU with Scientific Research Association for economics and finance-Student Chapter.
- Department of Business Economics associated with Gandhi Peace Foundation and sharing Gandhian values to the school students.
2017-2018
- Organised guest lecture on "25 Years of Economic Reforms in India" on 7th October 2017. The chief guest of the event was Dr.P.Anbalagam.
- An industrial visit to M.S.Swaminathan Research Foundation was organized for the final year students.
2016-2017
- Organised guest lecture on "From Womb to Tomb: A review of Missing women through the perspective of Amartya Sen" on 5th Jan 2017. The chief guest of the event was Dr. Maheshwari.
- Conducted Inter-Departmental Competitions on 29th July 2017.
2015-2016
- Guest lecture on ‘Recent trends in Tamilnadu economy’ on 10.09.2015 by Dr. D.Vijaya Lakshmi.

In the academic year 2015 and 2016, the students of Business Economics Department have participated in various intercollegiate sports and cultural events.
